the feet of the Angel of Grief by William Wetmore Story (1895)
the statue itself is a beautiful manifestation of his ego—he made it for himself and his wife. the concept of an angel weeping with the passing of the artist is somewhat disturbingly self-deific however the statue’s beauty is undeniable—photographic rendering is injust, so i chose this picture in ironic humbleness of the statue
